Good Shepherd Hospice Houses are peaceful, compassionate places that are designed like a home away from home for individuals who have terminal illness and need short-term, round-the-clock care due to a variety of acute medical needs. The hospice houses offer many of the same medical services available in a hospital setting. We work with you, your family and physician to develop an individualized care plan offering intensive treatment during a medical crisis.
Where are the Good Shepherd Hospice Houses?
Good Shepherd Hospice Houses are conveniently located in Auburndale, Lakeland and Sebring.
What Type of Staff Members are at the Hospice Houses?
Our hospice nurses and aides staff the hospice houses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The patient’s personal physician is encouraged, but not required to visit and provide care. As in all Good Shepherd Hospice settings, our hospice physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, dietary personnel, chaplains and trained volunteers are readily available to provide support to patients and their loved ones. Our professional staff provides quality clinical care, pain control, symptom management and psychosocial and spiritual support.
Who Pays for Services Provided at the Hospice Houses?
Under the hospice benefit, Good Shepherd Hospice accepts reimbursement from Medicare or Medicaid, as well as most private insurance plans for the general inpatient level of care.
How are the Facilities Different?
Compassion and comfort for the patient and their loved ones are of utmost importance. Our hospice houses are designed with most of the amenities that one would find in your own home. Family and friends may visit anytime and stay overnight. There is a kitchenette and dining area along with on-site laundry for use by families and guests.
