Lights of Love

The holiday season is a time of tradition, hope and joy, usually celebrated with family and friends. Inevitably, holidays also turn our thoughts to loved ones who are no longer here but whose memory burns brightly in our hearts. To help families and friends cope with the holiday season, Lights of Love was created.

Hospice has a unique understanding of loss. For the past 10 years, Good Shepherd Hospice and LifePath Hospice have maintained a tradition of remembrance and comfort for the holidays. Lights of Love is an annual community event that is free and open to the public. This commemorative tree-lighting ceremony benefits the programs of Good Shepherd Hospice and LifePath Hospice.

Trees are adorned with beautiful white lights, symbolizing the brightness loved ones brought into our lives. Each light is given in memory of one who is no longer with us, or in honor of someone special, bringing warmth, comfort and a sense of hope to the givers.

Lights of Love is…

Lights of Love is an opportunity for hospice families and community members to come together to celebrate and remember their loved ones in a special way. Musical entertainment is provided by community members, and attendees light candles and sing holiday songs. Hospice staff and spiritual leaders from the community share words of comfort to help honor and remember loved ones during the holiday season.

For every $25 donated, one symbolic light  is added to the trees at various Good Shepherd Hospice and LifePath Hospice locations. With a gift of $100 or more, you receive a collectible pewter ornament as long as supplies last. Every year there is a different featured ornament.

Dates for the 2017 Lights of Love celebrations will be announced soon.
