Countless opportunities to give of yourself — and change the lives of others.
When you have so much to share, there’s so much you can do to help another — from something as simple as whispering a kind word to lending a helping hand to the family. Our volunteer opportunities include:
- Providing companionship to patients and respite to families
- Offering comfort to hospice patients in care facilities, such as assisting at meal time
- Providing professional massage, music or pet therapy, and hair care
- Assisting with care for patients’ pets
Grief research shows that survivors who wish to become patient/family volunteers should consider waiting for one year following the death of their loved ones. We do, however, welcome your assistance in the following areas:
- Thrift store
- Office support
- Circle of Love and Bethany Center programs for grieving children
- Special events
- Community awareness opportunities
Patient/family volunteers undergo thorough training prior to being matched with patients. They participate in sessions on the physical, emotional and spiritual care needs of patients and families, as well as other applicable skills. Office and community volunteers are oriented to the agency in a more condensed training session. All training sessions are provided free of charge, during daytime and evening hours.
Chapters Health System has volunteer opportunities to suit people with a variety of interests and talents. Days and times are flexible, and every role is valued. If you have one to four hours per week and a true desire to help, we invite you to embark on your own life-changing journey as a Chapters Health volunteer.
